carve your name

into my arm.

Bought another old flea market camera that I'm determined to master.
It is very basic and reminds me of my beloved holga.
Also, we have a vegetable garden now.

Every time I look at you

 I wanna kill, wanna kill
Stranger things that I would do to make you feel the way I feel
Its just that I have been broken so many thousand times
And every time I start again I wonder why, wonder why
Its been such a hard year, it won't ever change
My heart isn't cold now
Its not what it seems because
You say to me my heart feels far away

Developed some new 35mm film today.
this is the last picture I ever took of Kevin MF Rich, one week before his death last month.

if I had known it would be the last picture I would take of him, I would have tried to get a better shot.

The morning after the Kevin died, I drove to tell a friend.
I couldn't get a hold of them so while I was up in the area, I stopped by Kevin's apartment, where he had passed just the night before. I snapped some pictures.

his apartment:

and the footsteps left out front of his door from the commotion:

Thaumatrope

Greek name meaning "wonder turner"

"Although the thaumatrope does not produce animated scenes, it relies on the same persistence of vision principle that other optical toys use to create illusions of motion.  Persistence of vision is the eye's ability to retain an image for roughly 1/20 of a second after the object is gone. In this case, the eye continues to see the two images on either side of the thaumatrope shortly after each has disappeared.  As the thaumatrope spins, the series of quick flashes is interpreted as one continuous image."

(why is the video in fast forward? no idea.)

And I was a person once

Sending off unread letters
Receiving no reply
Never bothering asking why

graduation gift to myself:

My first liquid light print *sigh*
coffee stained matte, hand painted and distressed frame

Yard Sale $1.00

Awesomely hideous old child's dress.

minus lace bust, minus short sleeves, minus zipper on back, minus 6 inches in length
Cut, sewn, scrapped
into a potential Preview Party dress?
too much fun.

Senior Show

Please excuse the photo quality of my point-and-click.

My final show at NHIA

 Artist Statement:

Our existence is validated by our actions. If you are doing, then you are.

This work performs personal functions; It fulfills the desire to keep record and becomes the means to challenge and problem solve. It also fills the need to invent by hand.

The work is developed through a variety of traditional and hand directed processes, including painting and darkroom photography. Essentially, the work is a by-product of an internal battle against mortality. To exist, and to feel alive--it is the battle to beat an imaginary clock through constant production.
