Blood bread.
In the 2nd century a religion began called Montanism that was a sort of revolt against Christianity. In the 3rd and 4th centuries Christians believed that people in this sect were joined together by a Eucharist, where they shared a bread that had been baked with the blood of a small child, who usually died as a martyr/sacrifice. Its hard to know fact from fiction in this case, since most of the surviving writings on the religion are anti-Montanist writings. I bought some fake blood and baked me some bread today for my latest still life- "Montanist Eucharist".

for my personal amusement
This is what I've been doing lately.
I am not a fan of still lives. So I decided to paint one.

Some crappy photos of some more finished pieces for the upcoming show. Since I was working on these up till the last minute, I haven't gotten these photographed.
Some are taken at angles to avoid the glare, they are quite shiny.
